Are You Ready to Vape With Mechanical Mods?

Once you've mastered the basics of vaping, you may find yourself wanting to change up your experience and try something new. There is a lot more to vaping than just using your standard e-cigarette. And the good news is with a lot of these next level ideas, you can still use the Max VG juice that you know and love. From sub ohm vaping to nicotine salts, there is a whole world out there to explore when it comes to customizing your vaping experience.

One that may be worth exploring is the use of mechanical mods. They aren't without a bit of controversy, though. Before you dive into this next-level vaping experience, it's important to understand what it is and why people both love and hate it. Then you can decide if it's the right vaping experience for you.

What Are Mechanical Mods?

First, you need to know the difference between a mechanical mod and a regulated mod. There is a very good chance that you are currently using a regulated mod. Regulated mods use a circuit board to control the current of electricity going through the device. If you can change the voltage of your device, it's regulated. A mechanical mod doesn't have a circuit board. It's unregulated, so the current comes directly from the battery and is only operated by the mechanics inside it.

The Pros and Cons

Why People Love Them

Huge plumes of vape.

If you love blowing giant plumes of vape, then the mech mod is the way to go. Because it's regulated by the user and not a circuit board, you can pull bigger plumes than you would from a regulated mod. You can't be a vape cloud chaser without one. They are the right device to use if you are trying to perfect your vape tricks, too.

They are easy to fix.

There is less circuitry that can go wrong inside a standard vaping device. But with a mech mod, it's all easy to replace. So if something does break, you should be able to quickly replace it yourself without paying out for all new gear. That could help you save money over time because you won't be buying a new mod every year or so.

Lots of customization options.

You can tinker with a mech mod easily. If you like building your own atomizer, then a mech mod is for you. You can switch out parts and experiment with different builds to find the one that works best for you.

Why Some People Stay Away

They depend on your charge.

Since it operates directly from the battery current, your experience is dependent on your battery charge. As your battery starts to run down, your vaping experience will, too. So you may find you need to keep your device charged up to full as much as possible to get the experience you want. For some people, this isn't worth the hassle.

They are more expensive to operate.

Mech mods are more expensive to buy than their regulated counterparts. But the expense doesn't stop there, either. They go through batteries fast, so you'll end up buying replacements sooner. Mech mods also use VG liquid a lot faster than a regulated mod, so you'll be paying for more of it.

They can be tough to use.

There is a big learning curve when it comes to using them. Because you'll be in charge of your own vaping experience, it takes a little trial and error to figure out the best way to use your mech mod. If you aren't an experienced vaper, you shouldn't dive into these.

They are big and bulky.

Regulated e-cigs are usually pretty sleek and easy to tuck into a pocket. You'll find that's not the case with a mech mod. They are much larger due to the mechanical parts inside. Some people don't like the bulkiness of the mod.

You have to clean them more often.

Because of the amount of e-liquid you'll pull through the mech mod, you'll need to clean the device more often. If you let this job go for too long, the juice can start to clog the internal mechanics. You'll end up with an inferior vaping experience, or worse, a dead mod.

These mods can be dangerous.

You should use them at your own risk. Make sure you've done extensive research or get training from others before you use a mech mod. They require a good grasp of electrical knowledge to use safely. Because the current isn't regulated, you run the risk of overheating your device. That can put you at risk of fire, explosion, and severe injuries.

Are They Right for Your Vaping Experience?

If you are a casual vaper who uses the device to stay away from traditional cigarettes, then a mech mod probably isn't for you. You'll be better off sticking to a regulated mod, which is most of what is available on the market. They will regulate the current for you and reduce the risk of overheating or your device exploding.

If you've been vaping for years, though, and are seeking a new vaping experience, then a mech mod might be the right option for you. Take time to research how to use them and talk to others who have them. They'll be able to give you advice on their use and how to avoid dangerous problems like overheating.

If you do decide to try mech mods, be sure to keep a regulated mod on hand as well. They are easier to transport and are best for everyday vaping. Bring out your mech mod for special events and experiences.

Practical Predictions on the Future of Hands-Free Vaping

July 10, 2019

Right now, there's no such thing as a hands-free e-cig. There might be one or two wacky prototypes out there rigged up in someone's vape lab, but there's nothing you can buy online or in any vape shop that even approaches hands-free vaping. Which is totally lame, because who doesn't want to vape hands-free?
